Party Postings

I had the most amazing Sweet 16 princess ball! My parents rented the ballroom at a hotel and it was decorated from top to bottom in glitzy rhinestones and princess accessories. I wore a princess-like ball gown and my 5 best friends dressed like the Disney princesses! The DJ played cool dance music all night and everyone actually danced. ~Erica

My Sweet 16 party was a disco theme. There was everything from disco themed invites to a disco ball in the banquet hall. For my grand entrance, I performed a choreographed disco dance solo in front of all of my guests. Everyone loved it! All my guests wore disco outfits and left with the cutest little blinged-out ring favors. ~Chrissie

I had a party out on the town. We had three limos that drove around me and 30 of my closest friends. First we went to the beach, then out to dinner, and ended up at a teen dance club that had a V.I.P. section just for me and my guests. It was all decorated with pink and silver and had my cake. It was so hot! ~Shawna

Question: I want to have a great Sweet 16 party, but I only have a $500 budget. Do you have any tips on how to plan a party on a strict budget? ~Charnell

Answer: Turning 16 is such an exciting time! It is understandable that you have a budget, most teens do. Here are some ideas for planning a great party on a budget: have the party at your house or a relative's house...this will save a ton of money. Also, limit the amount of guests you invite to only your closest friends. You can have 30-40 friends over, put someone in charge of music, and ask your parents to make some snacks for your friends. Tip: French bread pizzas are easy to make, healthy and are really inexpensive. Get some sodas or make pitchers of sparkling punch and serve in fun glasses. You will still have money leftover to buy decorations and favors for your guests. Click here for recipes! ~Alicia, Style and Advice Editor
