Sweet 16 Fall Themes

Now that fall is upon us, some great fall themes are popping up! Here are some great ideas:

1) Fill glass bowls with candy to use as colorful centerpieces. You can match it to your theme color or mix a variety of colors!

2) Fall Frensy Masquerade. Decorate your event with bundles of hay, pumpkins, glittered fall leaves, and more! Invite all of your guests to wear fall ball attire and don't forget the masks!

3) Our all-time favorite theme is Hollywood! The hollywood theme is great no matter the season. You can decorate with clapboards, red-carpets, and movie stars! Don't forget to take pictures of the star of the event.

Most Popular Themes of the Season

We have been receiving a ton of requests about what themes to choose for the upcoming warm months of the year! Well, here are some fun ideas to incorporate the nice weather with your Sweet 16 party theme...

Have a Hawaiian themed party! Whether your budget is large or small, you can really play up a Hawaiian party with music, food and drinks, decorations and favors! Try serving your sodas and other bottled drinks in a blow up pool full of ice...it's the small details that can really make a party fun! You can also serve Hawaiian chicken and pineapple on a stick.

You can even have your guests dress the part. Remind them to wear Hawaiian theme attire - even if it is a formal Sweet 16! Oh, and don't forget to start out with Hawaiian themed invitations.

Sweet 16 Candle Lighting Ceremony

Have you heard about the traditional Sweet 16 candle lighting ceremony? You know, where the term "16 Candles" originated? We have had many inquiries about whether this tradition is required and expected at a Sweet 16 party. So we figured it would be best to share the answer with all of you who are interested! This ceremony is very special and somewhat formal, but absolutely not required.

You may be thinking, what is a Sweet 16 candle lighting ceremony?! Well, in this ceremony, the birthday girl lights a candle for the 16 people (family and friends) that are most special to her. Any type of candles can be used, whether they are pillar candles, tapers or votives. The important part is to include those people that have influenced your life and have made you the young woman that you are! Turning 16 is very special and it is nice to recognize the important people in your life.

Now, I already mentioned that this ceremony is not required. So, if you are having an informal party, don't worry! Maybe you can just write a special note to the 16 special people in your life!

Having a Hard Time Planning Your Sweet 16?

Having a hard time planning your Sweet 16 party?

Here are a few tips to help ease your party planning pain.

1. When it comes to entertaining you can never be too organized! Make checklists of things that you need to do for your party. Also, make lists of things that you may need others to do (example: mom needs to pick up the cake by noon). Print these lists out and check things off as you get them done, that way you can see everything you have accomplished!

2. Begin the planning process early. Doing this will help to keep you from stressing out before your party and could save you money by booking different party services ahead of time.

3. If you are having a planned budget make sure to break it down into different areas for your party that way you're not spending excessive amounts of money on centerpieces when you know that you still want to have some really cute party favors.

4. Always shop around for different party items; you never know what you may find at your next stop.

5. Communicate with everyone involved in your party. Make sure that all of the vendors you've hired know exactly what you are expecting of them before and during the party!

Feel free to contact our experienced party planning staff if you need help with your party or if you just want some extra ideas on how to make your Sweet 16 even more amazing!!

Elaborate Sweet 16 Party?

Not really sure that the elaborate Sweet 16 party is for you?

Instead, invite a small group of close friends to a hotel suite on the water for the weekend.
Lounge around the pool, go shopping and picnic on the beach. You can decorate the hotel room with bright colored balloons, pass out leis and give each friend an oversized beach towel with their initials embroidered on it! Or have a spa day. Treat your best buds to Mani/Pedis and spend some time relaxing with the girls! Give each of your guests a plush robe or a make-up bag and personalize it with their name or initials. Either way, make sure to enjoy yourself and remember it's your day - so do what you want!!

Can't Decide on a Theme?

Can't decide what theme to have for your Sweet 16?

Think about the month that you are planning on throwing the party...In cooler months such as December-January consider using a Winter Wonderland theme with everything in cool tones (i.e. blue, white, silver) or for warmer months such as June-August have a Hawaiian or Luau themed party utilizing a lot of bright colors! Make sure that if you have your party during the spring and are wanting to have it outdoors consider a back up plan just in case Mother-nature chooses showers for your Big Day!

Getting Ready for Your Party

The birthday girl is always stressed on the day of the party. Here are some great tips on how to to look and feel great while getting ready.

  • A couple of days before your party put together a mix cd of your favorite songs to listen to while getting ready.
  • Pack a bag the night before your party. Inside the bag include everything you plan on wearing to your party. (i.e. shoes, accessories, perfume, lip gloss, etc.)
  • Include your close friends! If you and a couple of your close friends get ready together, you will feel more at ease and have fun getting ready! Yoour mood will stay up and, chances are, they will stop you from making any make-up or hair mistakes!
  • Make sure to eat throughout the day and drink lots of water. Nobody like a grumpy birthday girl.
  • Don't stress about the little things. If you find out last minute that you've lost your favorite earrings, improvise and move on. It is not worth ruining your Sweet 16 over something silly.
  • Most importantly, have fun. The day is all about you!
